I have been divorced since 2014 but since then I had trouble with my flat. First I was to buy over my ex husband’s share of the flat and take it over. I finally found the funds to do so but then changed jobs and wasn’t able to furnish the rest of the housing loan. I applied for a variation of court order to sell the flat instead.

This took a Long time to go through and all the while I was still paying for the flat. No one living there and I couldn’t rent it out so I was making a loss. For 2 years I was contributing to this depreciating asset and was in such a bad state. I finally got approval to sell it and the court granted me one year to do so.

Many months in, I still couldn’t find a buyer. I thought that I wouldn’t make it in time. Thankfully, Master Lilian advised me to get the CAN and the WMC. After more than 30 viewings I finally got an offer. I was so relieved.

Even with some administrative delays and difficulties, the deal went through and closed just one day before the one year date was up. I have only gratitude for this journey and I’m very happy that this chapter has finally closed.

I am a divorced Mother, with three school going children.

I got married while I was still in my final year in university and did not complete it because I had a baby soon after that. Throughout my 12 years of marriage, I stayed at home to take care of my kids and household. Therefore, have never went out to work. I felt quite Low as time went by. To the point I felt suicidal and like I was losing my mind. At home I was snapping at my kids, always unhappy about something they did or my boyfriend did.

In 2012, I had suffered from a double break up.
I was in an abusive marriage for 12 years, to a man who was addicted to computer games and didn’t want to work.
