• In India…in the olden folklore…it is believed that the anklets have magical propensities to attract men. On the other hand…in Indian villages…anklets with charms that made a tinkling sound were worn to ward off insects and small animals while working in the fields.

IN THE MODERN SOCIETY:
• A common belief is that wearing the anklet on one side represents heterosexuality and wearing it on the other side represents homosexuality.
• Some people also believe that wearing an anklet on either side is an indication that a person is single & available or attached & married.

Nevertheless…all these anklets meanings are just contemporary beliefs that have no valid logical explanation to them. You may wear them on either side or on both ankles.
